  Hon.Kajembe planting a tree during WWD at Naivasha This year's Wolrd Wetlands Day was celebrated at Kihoto Grounds in Naivasha on 2nd February 2010.The event which was characterized with bomb and colour was officiated by the Assistant minister for Environment Honourable Kajembe.Speaking during his official speech he said that his ministry shall not spare anybody who is against conservation.

He reacted to demands that the gorverment should intervine and help resolve the issues sorrounding the development of Lake Naivasha Management plan.The Country Director for United Nations Enviroment Programme (UNEP) raised concerns on the speed at which the lake is drying."If we shall not tame the 'Cowboys'(reffering to those opposed to L.Naivasha Management plan), then ten years from now the lives of half a million people who directly depend on the lake is threatened".

The event was attended by a delegation from Kenya Forest Working Group and Kenya Wetlands Forum.KFWG exhibited various forest publications and its stand received an overwhelming number of vistors.Different organizations also displayed all that they offer as many people streamed into the stands to learn and celebrate our wetlands.
